Felicity/Franklin
Township Shelter
Tucked away in the southwestern most corner
of Franklin Township in Clermont County is the small village of Felicity,
Ohio. After having enjoyed prosperous times through the development and
building of the power plants along the Ohio River, the staffing and
running of the Nike Missile Base, and the 216th Ohio National Guard Army
Engineering Battalion, Felicity fell into a state of economic depression
when the work was completed and the bases were closed. Although times were
becoming difficult for the township and community, what couldn’t be
depressed was the spirit and pride those still residing in the area
possessed. Unfortunately, because jobs were scarce, many had to move their
families to locations where they could better provide for them. Those that
remained continued to find ways to keep the community going. FINE 2020, a
group of committed and active citizens organized a community group that
looked at the needs of the area and chose to focus on the children in the
local schools, elderly and handicapped citizens and community
beautification. From this grew Cool Tools For School, a project that
provides fully stocked backpacks for all Felicity/Franklin students grades
K through 12; Felicity Facelift, maintenance and repair of homes occupied
by the elderly and handicapped; and community beautification projects such
as the Clermont Clean and Green Spring Litter Pick-up, flower and bulb
planting around the village, partnering with the county on a Community
Distress Grant and grubbing out trees and overgrowth at the Farmer Barger
Walking Trail.
Stay tuned for the actual day of the grand ribbon cutting so you can make plans to join us for this exciting celebration!

High school seniors throughout Clermont County are gearing up for graduation and soon will be heading off to college. All Clermont County students enrolled in the CEO college access program at our partnering schools are eligible to apply for the Last Dollar Grant scholarship. CEO is proud to be able to award two scholarships this year at each of our six partnering high schools and career centers in Clermont County - Amelia, Glen Este, Williamsburg, Clermont Northeastern, Goshen and Live Oaks. Deadline for application submission is April 20th and the grants will be awarded during the Senior Awards Ceremonies at each of the schools. Our in-school advisors work diligently throughout the school year to encourage students to pursue some form of higher education after graduation and assist students and families as they navigate their path toward postsecondary education. FAFSA REMINDER: If you or someone you know has a high school senior graduating this spring and you have not completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have questions regarding the process please contact Nancy Hall, Program Manager, at the CEO office for assistance. This application must be completed and submitted to the federal government before a student can be considered for any type of financial aid (grants, scholarships, work-study, and government loans) from the college he/she is planning to attend in the fall.
