Clermont 20/20 Welcomes Clermont County’s New Executives and Professionals

Twelve newly promoted and newly relocated executives and professionals from Clermont County came together, in March, for an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at Clermont County. The First Impressions Program, sponsored by Batavia Transmissions, LLC welcomed

  • Dr. Jan Hillard, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, UC – Clermont,
  • Jim Quatman, Assistant Superintendent, Milford Exempted Village Schools,
  • Peggy O’Hara Chalker, Assistant Dean, Enrollment/Student Services, UC – Clermont,
  • Michael G. Reardon, Director of Eastgate Branch, Wilmington College,
  • Nancy & Charlie Weaver, Owners of Solutions Plus. Inc.,
  • Stanley Raymond, Director of Behavioral Medicine, Mercy Hospital Clermont,
  • Mary Roenker, OSU Community Development Agent,
  • Paul Dygert, Director of Purchasing, Batavia Transmissions, LLC,
  • Whit Hickman, Executive Director, YMCA, and
  • Julie Woodward, Special Needs Coordinator, Great Oaks.

We were also very happy to have Joyce Malek, Jon Rymer and Jim Chalker join in the program.

Planned by a dynamic group of First Impressions and LEAD Clermont graduates, including Ed Smith, Ann Appleton, Chris Smith, Glenda Neff, John Greer, Jon Quatman and Marie French, the program included three information-packed sessions tailored to fit the schedule of these busy organizational leaders and professionals.

The introductory evening was hosted at The Cincinnati Nature Center Rowe Woods Krippendorf Lodge by William Hopple, Executive Director of The Cincinnati Nature Center and James Hagberg, Artistic Director for the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout the evening we were enjoyed the beautiful music of a quarter of musicians form the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra. We also learned about the Fine Arts Programs at the University of Cincinnati, Clermont College from Jennifer Hull, Community Arts Program Coordinator, about the Cincinnati Art Museum from Timothy Rub, Executive Director, about The Nature Center from Bill Hopple and about the Philharmonic from Jim Hagberg.

The second class meeting brought a breakfast with elected officials, Bob Proud and Mary Walker, County Commissioners, Jean Schmidt and Tom Niehaus, State Representatives, Bethany Morehouse-Race, representing Congressman Rob Portman, and Bob True, County Treasurer; lunch at Dave Uible and Cindy Cassell’s Vista Grand Buffalo Ranch with New Richmond Village Manager Dave “I wish I brought a coat” Kennedy and Mayor Terry Durrette, and dinner at the Common Pleas Courthouse with Judges Jerry McBride, Jim Shriver, Victor Haddad and Thomas Hermann, Sheriff Tim Rodenberg, Public Safety Service Director Beth Nevel. And we did not just eat that day, in between meals we toured and learned about Clermont County’s rich history with local historian, Rick Crawford, learned how local government works together from Dave Duckworth, Miami Township Administrator, Loretta Rokey, Milford City Manager and Bob Proud; heard economic development presentations, while visiting Batavia Transmissions, LLC., from Ann Appleton, Batavia Transmissions, LLC, Bob Baillie, International Paper, Dan Rolfes, Holiday Homes, John Melvin, Clermont Chamber of Commerce, and Chris Smith, Ohio Department of Development; toured and learned the history of Clermont County Airport with Bill Anderson; learned about state of education in Clermont County from Glenn Alexander, County Superintendent and class member, Dr. Jan Hillard. The grand finale of the evening was the MADCAP Puppets performance, starring Deb Rymer and Stanley Raymond.

The final evening was hosted by Mercy Hospital Clermont as we were welcomed by Vice President Gayle Heintzelman. Dinner hosts also included George Brown, Clermont Senior Services, Tricia Burke, Clermont Counseling Center, Jim Carter, Child Focus, and Marie French, United Way who all participated in a panel on finding meaningful involvement in your community. Additional presentations throughout the evening included Health in Greater Cincinnati presented by Colleen O’Toole, Vice President of the Greater Cincinnati Health Council, an overview of the Mental Health and Recovery Board by Karen Scherra, Executive Director, and The Clermont Fund by Karen Zerhusen of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation. The evening centered on ways in which to become involved in Clermont County.
